Tuttavia esistono diverse perplessit\u00e0 sul regime alimentare dettato da questa dieta,<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>perplessit\u00e0 espresse da alcuni esperti del settore che affermano quanto segue.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019eccessiva riduzione di carboidrati provoca una riduzione pericolosa di glucosio, essenziale al funzionamento del sistema nervoso centrale e degli eritrociti, che utilizzano esclusivamente glucosio per il loro metabolismo energetico. Inoltre, in condizioni particolari di estrema carenza di glucosio (digiuno prolungato), il corpo ricorre ai corpi chetonici per sopravvivere. Questo \u00e8 un meccanismo disperato, efficace nel sostenimento delle funzioni vitali, ma non certo privo di effetti collaterali (stanchezza cronica, nausea, vomito, cefalee, coma).<\/p>\n<p>Ed ancora, a parit\u00e0 di ossigeno consumato i carboidrati hanno un rendimento energetico superiore ai grassi. Ne consegue che con un simile approccio dietetico la prestazione sportiva nelle discipline di endurance verrebbe seriamente compromessa.
